Our Team

Ms Clara YIP Founder of the firm

She holds a Law and Economics degree from Auckland University (New Zealand) and is a Registered Patent, Trade Mark and Industrial Design Agent in Malaysia. She was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in 1993 and was called to the Malayan Bar in 1994. She is proficient in English and Malay, and is conversant in Cantonese, Mandarin and French. She has 20 years of experience in a wide range of intellectual property work including patent, design, trademark filing and prosecution; copyright work; trademark opposition; ownership disputes; trade secrets; trade dress; passing-off; participated in different phases of litigation including settlement negotiations and trial preparation. She has been voted Asialaw’s Leading Lawyer in Intellectual Property in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. She currently serves on the Patent Standing Committee of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association. She is a contributor to INTA’s online publication on Trademark Cancellations as well as BNA’s Malaysian chapter on International Licensing.

Mdm Choon-Fong CHENG Consultant

She has a B. Sc. in Chemistry from Nanyang University of Singapore. She is an Associate Member of Institute of Chemistry, Malaysia. She has over 25 years of experience as an R&D chemist in a US multinational. Mdm. Cheng is fluent in English, Malay, Mandarin and Cantonese. Lau Hui Ru graduated with an LL.B. (Hons.) degree from University of Wales in 2005. She practices primarily in trademark and design filing and prosecution and has extensive experience in assisting clients on brand protection strategies, IP due diligence, IP transactions; oppositions; providing registrability advice; and representing clients before the Registrars. She is proficient in English, Mandarin and Malay.
